Vans Warped Tour rolled into Michigan Friday bringing with it seventy seven bands from around the world. Despite the one hundred degree plus temperatures fans came from all over to enjoy the music at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Water refill stations and a fire hose downpour provided by the city’s fire department aided in the efforts to keep everyone cool and hydrated through the shows eleven hour span. This year warped tour had constant music coming from seven different stages featuring everything from local bands to award winning groups. This year’s featured bands included Yellowcard, who played a number of their hits including “Lights and Sounds” and “Ocean Avenue”, the band also played a new single from what is to be their eighth studio album. The main stages also featured the younger post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil from San Diego, California. The band performed late in the day but kept the tired crowd alive with their high energy and fast-paced hard hitting songs. The final band of the day was Taking Back Sunday. One of the more mainstream bands on the tour it was no surprise that they managed to draw in the largest crowd of the day. Their set started with the song “El Paso”, a single off their recently released album. The set included fan favorites from almost all their studio albums. They ended this stop on the tour with their top charting song “Make Damn Sure”, leaving the tired and sunburned crowd still chanting for an encore.
