Motors and Music Experience, The Inaugural Dance with STP and Ice-T

Saturday in Pontiac Michigan the first ever Motors and Music Experience festival featuring Stone Temple Pilots, Shiny Toy Guns, Ice-T and many more took over the grounds at The Pontiac Silverdome. Three stages played home to local and national acts from around the country as well as many other side attractions. Although attendance was on the lighter side the people behind this event have laid the ground work for what should be a great festival for years to come. The one thing we liked about this festival was not only the line-up but the lay out. Most festivals with multiple stages are scattered so far apart and put in locations that are even confusing to the festival workers let alone the thousands of fans attending.  The Motors and Music Experience was set up right, easy access to all three stages as well as all the other attractions and vendors.

For being a first year festival you really couldn’t have asked for a cooler line up; playing the main stage was great bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Shiny Toy Guns, Ice-T, Trick Trick, Blaine Fowler Experience, Hush and Chiodos to name a few.  The side stages played host to legendary Detroit Bands like, The Howling Diablos and The Dirty Americans as well as some hot new bands like Kaleido. Also spinning things up with some DJ sets were Letz Massacre, Detroit Lion Dominic Raiola and Mayer Hawthorne.

What is cool about festivals is you never know what may happen, like Kenny Olson (former guitarist for Kid Rock) and Johnny Bee Badanjek (drummer from The Rockets) jammin’ with The Howling Diablos, Ice–T’s Wife Coco signing autographs and Detroit’s own Ryan Dillaha killing it with Ice-T on “Gangsta Rap”. Stars are born at Music Festivals, if you don’t believe us, research what happened on Max Yasgur’s Farm! The Motors and Music Experience is a great festival in the making and we are very excited to see the line up for 2013.
