Matisyahu and The Dirty Heads, Ya Mon!

Matisyahu and The Dirty Heads summer tour stopped at The Fillmore Detroit last Sunday night. Matisyahu, a reggae / alternative rock artist is touring all summer in support of his fourth album “Spark Seeker”.  Blending Jewish heritage with reggae, rock and hip-hop, Matisyahu takes a unique spin on American Reggae!  I was very disappointed that he has shaved off his traditional Hebrew Beard; it took away the visual experience that made Matisyahu a cult favorite. Grow the beard mon its who you are!

The Dirty Heads also performed that night and really played into the hearts of the crowd. They paid homage to the recently deceased Beasty Boy MCA with their song “Believe” and had the crowd screaming MCA during certain parts of the song. Also during the later part of their performance the projected a giant old English “D” on their back drop in honor of jamin in Detroit.

Mitisyahu and The Dirty Heads put on a great performance Sunday night here in The “D” and there is just something about rockn’ reggae that makes the soul feel good. Ya Mon!
