The 10 time Grammy winner Chaka Khan brought her funk to The MotorCity Casino Sounboard in Detroit, MI on Thursday night. Chaka “The Queen of Funk” is as good as she ever was; backed by a great band she sang a historic selection of her greatest hits that had the capacity crowd dancing in their seats.

Starting things off the band came out first, as they started to play, the familiar chant Chaka, Chaka, Chakaaa Kahn rang through the venue and as she took the stage to sing “I Feel For You” she was greeted by a standing ovation. Chaka reached the age of 59 this year and you wouldn’t even know it. Not only did she look great her voice was just as soulful as ever. Chaka connected with the audience as well as calling up a fan to assist her with one of our favorite hits “Tell Me Something Good”.

Chaka’s fourteen-song set took us through a historic journey that brought back memories of what made our souls feel good!

    Hello Marc!

That was ME singing with Chaka on “Tell Me Something Good” Thank you SO much for adding me in your review! Ah! This means so much! That was really a great time and I am glad I was able to have that little moment with her! Did you happen to take a picture of us during that time? If so I would REALLY like to have it!

Hello Timothy, Thank you so much for posting, you sounded great on stage with Chaka. Sorry professional photo taking is limited to a certain number of songs and unfortunately there was no photo taken during your special moment!

My wife Gwendolyn Richardson was the only female Chaka invited up to sing a phrase with her. allowing her to share the mic on “Sweet Thing”. We flew up from Houston, Texas celebrating her birthday on 11/28/2012…this was a great 53rd birthday gift for her…we did not get pictures. We were wondering if you guys captured the moment.

    • SeeTheMuzic says:

William, we are sorry to say no professional photo’s were taken during this moment. However we would like to wish Gwendolyn a Happy Birthday from all of us at SeeTheMuzic!
